Try eating foods high (relatively high) in the amino acid tryptophan or
supplement with L-tryptophan. Some authorities suggest turkey and other
poultry. Most meats, however, are higher in amino acids other than
L-tryptophan which only serve to raise neurotransmitters competitive to
serotonin. It was the use of genetically recombinant tryptophan from
Japan that resulted in the disorder of eosinophilia myalgia syndrome in
persons supplementing with L-tryptophan. This is no longer an issue
with said supplementation.
