I'd be extremely surprised if this is true of most Americans. In the
last ten years, the public has undergone an incredible bombardment of
the USDA-type nutritional advice. The idea that the traditional
American diet consists of a meat course at almost every meal, combined
with (maybe) some boiled vegetables and bread, seems outdated to me.
Instead, we are brainwashed to believe that meat is bad, unlimited
amounts of pasta are good. I visited America recently, and the utter
deluge of packaging that proudly proclaims FAT-FREE! is even more
unbelievable there than in Canada, where it is bad enough.
I suspect that for most people who try to follow these types of
guidelines, the C:P:F ratio is more like 70:15:15.
