I don't remember exactly how much if any bias voltage was put on the 
cathode in a grounded grid amp.  I do remember on 811s, the cathode was 
actually the filament, so they were fed filament voltage (around 5 v as 
I recall, through a double wound rf choke, I forget what those were 
called.  I just don't remember how the cathode was biased or if it was.
