I get this problem once in a while but I think in my case, it's my laptop. 
It's a vista machine and after it's been on for a while things like this 
start to occur.  I also loose the ability to read the status line in Windows 
mail.  Usually, in my case, a reboot fixes it but it's a pain nonetheless.
