Richard,
Congratulations on the new radio. The beep volume adjustment doesn't change
the speed of the CW feedback, and as far as I know, there is no speed
adjustment for CW feedback. You won't damage anything by connecting an
external speaker to the headphone jack on the right side of the control
head, but you won't like the way the speaker sounds because it will be low
level and distorted. You'll get much better results if you use the external
speaker jack on the front of the radio. You can then use the headphone jack
for its intended purpose, at which time the external speaker will be muted.
I've had my 480 for about five years, so feel free to ask if you have any
questions.
Steve
