Rick,
It sounds like you might have your speech compressor turned on. First turn
off the compressor and then set your mic gain at about 20 percent and you
should be good with the mic amp on.

I cant seem to find the right setting for me.
Without the preamp my audio seems to low for me unless I practically eat the
mic, and if I'm gonna do that I might as well use a hand mic., and with the
preamp on I get to much background noise unless I turn the mic gain almost
completely off, and then my audio is to low again.
