Just a few other things on the R-2000.  First I did  screw up.  There are 2 
DIN jacks on the rear, one upper left and one upper right.   It's been a 
long time, but I think one of them allows muting via a foot switch or 
something and  will let you get audio out, while   * I think* the other 
would connect directly to Kenwood transmitters of that era  like the old 599 
or whatever it was.

I vaguely recall that there is a cpu reset button, but I think it may be 
inside and you would have to remove the cover.

Finally a known problem that has reared it's head as the years have gone by, 
is the RF attenuator knob gets flaky and can really mess up  the reception 
of all but the strongest signal.   It's the click knob at the right of the 4 
front  panel knobs.   Even when set at 0 db (which I think is 12 o'clock) it 
can still attenuate and  if so, needs to be cleaned or replaced or whatever 
the fix is.

BTW, tnx again for the audio thing on the 480.  It was a big help, and I 
worked a few dozen stations in the Georgia QSO party this weekend.    SSB 
only for now, I'll try CW and RTTY later.
