I have several stereo-to-mono adaptors at home but they
have a mono male plug and plug in to a mono jack. They have a
tip and ring contact connected together so if you plug a stereo headset in to
that adaptor, it turns in to a mono pair of headphones. That is
not risky at all.
What he is asking about is how to combine two stereo
channels in to one mono channel so that person listening with
one ear does not miss the audio meant for the other ear.
Sorry if it was a little confusing.
