Steve,
I remember going into the ham store in Oakland CA in the late 60s when
the rigs with the sweep tube finals were just out and people were doing
in the finals like mad due to their being used to tuning the older rigs.
Behind the counter was a shelf and on it they kept an old sweep tube,
don't remember which one now, but one side was totally caved in. It was
an object lesson of what happens when you mistreat those tubes.
