Hi John, I remember reading your first post re the VX1R you've gotten hold
of. I started to answer it, thinking you'd gotten hold of the VX-2r, a unit
owned by I think, 3, of us on this list, but you didn't get a 2r, but rather
a 1r. So, Unfortunately, I have no links for you, but I have had one of
those lil things, They're not very blind friendly, they have their querks,
many of which have been worked out/cured in both the VX-2r and vx-3r---both
of which are vast improvements over the 1, But still in all, the vx-1r is a
mighty fine very little unit. If you can get either sighted or computer
help to program it, and you operate it in its' intended nitch, Good lil
pretty widebanded receiver, /(doesn't_ receive below 30MHZ, except for AM BC
band, ) It also has a Good peanut power transmitter, good scanning
capabilities, and good battery life. It's software can be a little
unstable, and the "panic button is a little more than active.
I paid $75 for mine a few years ago, and they go for around that depending
on accessories. Especially, if you did better than that, and as I say can
get some help setting it up, it's a very handy little unit. I also suspect
that there's a VX-1R Users group, probably on Yahoo, that you might
investigate. I know the VX2 and vx3 have such groups, I'm part of the VX2
group, and will try to get some more info for you if you wish. HTH, Danny
Dyer, Wb4idu.
