A fairly accurate depiction of Dr. Atkins' death, look at
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4327741/.
If memory serves, Gary Taubes also discussed it at some length in Good
Calories Bad Calories.
An unscrupulous physician who was opposed to Atkins' ideas released a
confidential document
that was misleading because of the bloating and water retention that
occurred during the last
three weeks of Atkins' life, after his fall.

There is some pretty solid evidence that a high saturated fat, moderate
protein, low carb diet
would be protective against most cancers. From Warburg, Krebs, and
several case studies
reflecting individual recoveries from brain cancers on a ketogenic diet.

best wishes,
Ron
