That's for sure. The Falun cooper mine in Sweden (no longer active) is a
REALLY BIG hole in the ground. What's interesting, besides Falun Red being
the color of most buildings in the area, was the fact that for miles around
the forests were decimated as a byproduct of the mining operation and trees
wouldn't re-root in the poisoned ground. That's where the poorer mine
workers houses were while the rich mine owners lived out in the forested
areas. Oddly the people who lived near the mine lived much longer than the
ones who lived in the countryside ostensibly because viruses and bacteria
where also killed by the pollution from the mine.
