I wouldn't go too long but 4 or 5 foot jumpers aren't too long, I think it's 
3 feet that comes with it. I wouldn't go real long though. You do have to 
hit the tune button with those tuners to get it toon, a long press, 5 
seconds or so will tune from scratch, if you hold it like a second or so 
will tune from memory, and a short press shuts the tuner off and turns it on 
as I recall.
