Steve,
Congratulations on the new rig. I look forward to hearing it on the air.
Maybe I'll catch you on 40 meters again.

Well maybe it's really a girl, I haven't peeked yet. But anyway it's a
TS-480sat. After some on and off list conversations last week, and after
changing my mind several times, I went ahead and did it.

Mistake number 1: I thought I could easily install the voice unit myself as

I did with the TS-2000. However after popping the top cover, I have no
idea where it goes. Not sure what 4 screws to loosen in order to remove
whatever shield cover the manual mentions. I won't have any sighted help
here till maybe next week, so if anyone has done it and can give me some
tips, I'd be grateful. I do have it running and connected to HRD, so I'm
not dead in the water.

Mistake number 2: For some reason I thought optional filters were plug in
and not solder in. Have 2 filters here that I will need to get installed
sometime. Anyone install their own filters?

So besides all that, here are a couple of questions: I've pulled the little

plastic cover off the front. From left to right, what are the 3 jacks
here?

Where are the head phone, ext. speaker, and cw straight key jacks? I'd
rather ask than just try shoving plugs into holes to see what fits.

Just got my little toe in the water now, but so far sounds good.
