Tom,

I may be wrong, but I don't think that antenna has a balun normally, 
although I think it can be had as an option.   A choke or balun isn't 
necessarily the answer to everything, but  is usually easy to implement and 
worth a shot.     How close the antenna is to the TV, or cable, or wiring 
is a problem many of us have to deal with.   The house is here and the 
antenna has to go here due to  any number of limitations and circumstances.
