Hello Lisa and other interested parties:

Flor was right on the mark in the answer to the second question.

It is indeed spam. Some folks have spam blockers set up to block or filter
out this nuisance. The way the Bayesian principle works is it takes sort of
a word count and the spammers add words to the spam to overload the filter
to let the spam through. I have received spam that read like a novel and a
bad novel at that.

Spammers use a few techniques to get their junk pass the filters. As you
mentioned in your post it is always a different email address. The creep's
keep changing the address so the block address feature want work.

They may deliberately misspell the product they are trying to get you to
buy, example Viagra spelled with other characters such as v * a g4 ra. If
you should set up a rule to send all messages with the word Viagra to the
trash been the rule would not work because there was no match.

It is good that we all should run an antivirus program along with an anti
spy program. However these two programs are specific to their namesake and
do nothing about the spam. The anti spy ware program may detect a Trojan
program that sends out spam on your computer. To fight the spammers you
will need a separate anti spam program.

If there were other folks on the list that are using anti spam programs they
like I wouldn't mind hearing from you. I am playing around with mail washer
program now. @ http://www.mailwasher.net/

Safe computing to you

: Your second question: It is messages with spam that bypass spam filters
: which use the Bayesian principle to define spam.

: Subject: [VICUG-L] couple of questions about outlook express
:
:
: Hi everyone,
:
: I have two questions about outlook express. If anyone can help me I
: would really appreciate it. I use window eyes 4.5 if that helps at all.
: When I open a message I can not seem to find any way to tell the address
: of the sender. Just their name shows up, but not their email address.
: Can anyone tell me what I might do to have it show me that information.
:
: The other question concerns getting strange email messages if anyone has
: had that happen to them before. They are messages that just have words
: in them. They are not sentences or anything. They are just slews of
: words, sometimes just a few words and sometimes a lot. I used to only
: get them once in a while, but now I am getting several every day. Does
: anyone know anything about this or why it might be happening. I do not
: ever recognize the name of the sender. I have run my norton internet
: security and I do not have any viruses. So if anyone has any thoughts
: on any of this please let me know. Thanks a lot.
