I use a hd am fm radio tuner intended for an audio system. It can only be
used this way because it has no speakers but only outputs to attach to the
audio system. It is a sony.

It uses a remote and while there is no speech one quickly gets used to what
buttons do what and I can perform all functions unassisted. A sighted
friend to start one off is all that is needed to use the remote at the
beginning. This makes it no different then any other remote.

I mention this to say that the portable radio being discussed cann't be
more complex then this unit's remote. I sometimes find speech a needless
duplication of information and after some time wish the chatter could be
shut up.
