Don,

My suggestion is to go with a Dual core. Unless you'll be doing high level
of gaming, which I seriously doubt, there is no significant benefit derived
by a screen reader user having access to a quad core machine. In early
tests, Windows 7 appears to be far more stable and requires a little less
resources than Windows Vista; so no worries on that end. I would suggest
that you think about either stocking up or have a plan to stock up on RAM
though. For now, 2 GB's should suffice. With the eventual transition to 64
bit operating environment, you will be able to support more than 3 GB of ram
on that machine should you need it.

HTH.

Regards,

Pratik

The subject line covers it I think. In putting together a new computer
those are the choices I'm stuck with.

I understand that windows 7 will be coming out over the summer, and, most of
the folks who have gone to vista haven't had a problem either.

Is it worth the extra money to go with a quad system considering that I'm
going to want my machine to last a long time? Thanks.
