After you press alt-f to get into the file menu, you press f twice more thus
activating the shortcut to compat all folders - manually. Compacting
folders is usually a good thing, and is now done automatically in Windows XP
after each 100 times you close Outlook Express. I do manually compact all
folders when I think there's a lot of stuff gone off and thus it will clear
a little more drive space. If you want to reduce any risks, take Outlook
Express off-line when going to compact.

Hi Chris,
When I want to create a new folder in Outlook Express, I press alt+f and
arrow down to Folders..., then
pressing Enter twice and typing in the name of the new folder. Pressing
Enter again
creates the desired folder.
Hoping to save you the need for arrowing down to Folders..., I tried just
typing f after pressing alt+f, and I was
dismayed to hear my PC say "compacting." So I quickly pressed Escape and
rebooted to prevent OE from losing all my e-mail the way it did the last
time I heard JAWS pronounce that
frightening word "compacting."
I wonder if anyone can explain why pressing f led to this awful result.
HTH
Nelson

Hi:
I have a client who is trying to create folders in outlook express. when
he presses controlShift E and types the name of the new folder, and presses
enter, the folder is not created, the dialog doesn't close, nothing happens
at all. I've never seen this before, any thoughts?
