Hi Becky,

Good to hear from you.
What was the decision of the people of Cote d' Ivoire? I personally don't believe that the will the majority in Cote d' Ivoire is being respected right now. We have a crisis festering in this country and I think it is about time that people set aside a certain type of African pride that gives licence to politicians drunken with power to cause suffering, misery and death on innocent citizens.

Is President Obama the only (or first) person that has made a pronouncement on this crisis? From what I know, matters affecting the people of Cote D'Ivoire have unfortunately been decided by outsiders for decades, as has been the case in many countries in Africa. Besides, If an African is wrong, I don't see anything wrong in anyone, African or not, to tell the person that s/he is wrong. We have to confront issues in an objective way, especially when peoples rights are beeing trampled upon. I don't think this makes me less of an African. Also, I don't necessarily see President Obama as an outsider to matters African.

A bientot,
--Emilie
