DOBERT GNAHORE:  FRIDAY, MAY 1, 8:00 PM AT THE WISCONSIN UNION THEATRE  DON'T MISS IT.

Hello ladies & gentlemen,

Please make sure you go to see this lady on Friday.  She is the best!  I mean it.  Her performance is simply electrifying.  Don't miss this performance because you will definitely regret it.

dzigbodi

"She was the female star of Acoustic Africa—and she’s coming back with her own band!
Dobet Gnahore dances, plays percussion - and sings in seven African languages and French. Her band includes French and Tunisian members as well as her master percussionist father Boni Gnahoré. Apart from the sounds of her homeland, Côte Ivoire, her music incorporates echoes of Cameroonian, Congolese and East African sounds. Her socially conscious lyrics deal with subjects such as the AIDS pandemic, the importance of family, village life and remembering your roots."

Onstage, says the BBC, “Dobet is a vivacious bundle of energy, blessed with a powerful voice and infectious charisma. She wears sumptuous Afro-chic outfits, and her hair extensions toss as she swaps a flute for a thumb piano, a shaker or just a pair of dancing shoes.”
