I have a Canon MF4200 laser connected to my local LAN by wire. It has a
fixed IP. My router, a Linksys WRT610N is set up to allow wireless
access from approved MAC addresses with WPA2-Personal security. The
computer in the kitchen area connects wirelessly to my LAN. For the
longest time, I had no problems printing to the laser (LPN 1 identity
IP-192.168.1.119) which was well within the range of operational IP's.
Several months ago, my kids started complaining that they couldn't print
to the printer. Now I find that if I try to print an ordinary text file
or even using the printer properties page to print a test page, it
produces and error and does not print. I can ping the printer from the
remote computer without any problems, but it won't print, even with the
firewall turned off.
Should I delete the printer and then reload the drivers? I don't
understand how the drivers could have become corrupted? But should that
be the first step or last step? Is there something else I should be
looking at?
