I've never heard of Proloid before. After searching I'm not quite sure what
it is. The generic name is thyroglobulin, some sites said it contained T4 and
T3, but not all.

.htm
Question: I would like to know if it is still possible to get Proloid.
Synthroidhasn't worked right for the past 12 years. I took Proloid for 34 years and
always had myweight under control. With Synthroid, I have gained weight.
Please help.
Answer: Proloid is no longer manufactured mainly because it was never useful
intreating hypothyroidism. Thyroid replacement is not effective in managing
weight loss.Consequently, I doubt seriously whether changing to Synthroid has
any appreciable effecton your weight. As long as your TSH is in the normal range
you are receiving adequatereplacement. I'd make sure you are on the correct
dosage. You really won't see any effecton your weight by changing these
medications.

Thyroglobulin supplies the body with thyroid hormone and is used totreat
hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does notproduce enough thyroid
hormone. When your body does not have enoughthyroid hormone, it does not
function properly, resulting in poorgrowth, slow speech, lack of energy, weight
gain, hair loss, dry thickskin, and increased sensitivity to cold. When taken
correctly,thyroglobulin reverses these symptoms.

thyroglobulin - an iodine containing protein that is obtained from the
thyroid gland and exhibits the general properties of the globulins

globulin - a family of proteins found in blood and milk and muscle and in
plant seed

So, it may be thyroglobulin which is neither T4 not T3, yet it may contain T4
or T3, and may or may not be helpful. It may or may not still be available.
