Karen, I copied this from my list post but have included some other links at
the bottom. I have found in the past, lots of studies concerning Alpha
Lipoic acid and Peripherl Neoropathy. It's worth a try. I hope it helps
you. Just wanted to add that if you look in some of the vitamin stores on
line, there are quite a few pills that contain ALA and selenium and other
things we hypo's need. That way you get more bang for you buck and aren't
taking so many different pills if you are a vitamin taker. Usually, under
antioxident catagories is where you will find it with other things like E, or
Milk Thistle for the liver etc. I currently take a pill including ALA, Milk
thistle and selenium.

"In Germany, alpha-lipoic acid is an approved medical treatment for
peripheral neuropathy, a common complication of diabetes. It speeds the
removal of glucose from the bloodstream, at least partly by enhancing insulin
function, and it reduces insulin resistance, an underpinning of many cases of
coronary
heart disease and obesity. The therapeutic dose for lipoic acid is 600
mg/day. In the United States, it is sold as a dietary supplement, usually as
50 mg tablets. (The richest food source of alpha-lipoic acid is red meat.)"
Here is something else that you may want to add daily if you are not already.
I have also read that B-5 or pantothetic acid in high doses up to 1,000mg
helps with acne. I have taken that much before without a problem but I am
not a doctor so...check first. But it stated on this web site it may help hot
burning feet. I don't think you need to take that much for your feet however.

But you can find it.

Also, just type Alpha Lipoic Acid in your browser and you will find much
information on it.
