Thanks for the helpful tips on groceries and restaurants around Sanibel. Looks like there are lots of good restaurants in the area.
---------------------------------------------------------------
We were just in Sanibel and ate in several restaurants that seemed to understand the g-f diet- Sweet Melissa's, Greenhouse Grill, and Timbers were among the best. Bailey's grocery store has added a huge selection (700 plus items) that are g-f because they receive so many requests. We were there last year and nothing was as g-f as it was this year. What a difference a year makes
-------------------------------------------------------------------
There's no Whole Foods on Sanibel; however, there is one in No. Naples on
Rte 41 south past 99th Street and on the left near Mercato (a new mall and
condo living development). Good Luck!

Several people mentioned this, but they are closed for renovations now. Maybe when someone else goes down to Fl it will be open:
Adas Natural Foods Market -
11705 S. Cleveland Ave., Ft. Myers FL 33907
It is a healthfood store in Fort Myers. Located at US 41 and Colonial in the Burlington Coat Factory and Johann Fabric shopping center

Here is a good website of restaurants in the area
http://www.glutenfreeregistry.com/gluten-free-state-search.do?state=FL&city=Fort%20Myers

The Whole Foods is in Naples.

There is a Pizza Fusion in Ft Meyers. We love other Pizza Fusions.

We do have the standard gluten-free chains like PF Changs, Outback, Carabas, Chili's, Macaroni Grill, LeeRoy Selman's, etc in the Fort Myers area.

Also, if you need supplies while in the area, go to Ada's. It is a healthfood store in Fort Myers. Located at US 41 and Colonial in the Burlington Coat Factory and Johann Fabric shopping center.
