Hello Fellow Listers:
Okay, actually this is primarily directed at Bill (Sun Sounds), but I'm
posting it to the list since others may have some valuable input to provide.
In answering Harry Brown's questions, Sun Sounds wrote:
"5. Read printed material, so I don't have to use my laptop and scanner any
more? yes"
To the best of my knowledge, the only iPhone ap available to accomplish this
is "SayText", and my opinion is that it is emphatically "not ready for prime
time". Let's just say that SayText doesn't even remotely represent any
threat to the KNFB portable reader at this time. Is there another iPhone ap
written to work as a document reader that I'm perhaps unaware of?
And Sun Sounds continued:
"9. let me send files to a printer from the IPhone? don't know"
I would handle this by emailing the file to myself as an attachment, then
retrieve the attachment from my home or work computer and handle the
printing from there.
John

Harry, I thought you didn't like the IPhone. I can answer many but not all
of your questions. The answer is next to each of your questions.
Will the IPhone:
1. Let me read, origionate, reply to, and forword email? yes
2. browse the web? yes
3. Do word processing? yes, but only very simple editing
4. Use it as a GPS? yes
5. Read printed material, so I don't have to use my laptop and scanner any
more? yes
6. store and play all my audio files, so I wouldn't have to buy another
music player? don't know
7. play ebooks? don't know
8. read my talking books from NLS? no
9. let me send files to a printer from the IPhone? don't know
10. listen to the internet radio stations, yes including radio reading
services
11 Braille Display: you can advance it manually or have it scroll. Your
choice.
