I keep looking for March "QST" but it's not there yet.
As a Debian Linux user, I have not had one single issue
in using the bard site under the lynx as in l y n x browser or
in getting the books and magazines to play. Great work!
Finally, I would have done one thing differently in the
control design to make random access in magazines and textbooks
faster. I would have come up with some unique key sequence to
instantly jump forward or backward to the next chapter. The
sleep button might be a good multifunction candidate such as to
hold it down while tapping the right or left arrows. Each tap in
this mode would jump a whole chapter and it is not likely that
somebody would accidentally do this.
The Sleep button could still be used for Sleep but it
would be smart. The first tap would just beep and then silently
reset after say 5 seconds of no further activity. If it was
tapped within that 5 seconds, it would set Sleep times as it
does now.
