I am going back a long way here.  Maybe their is an easier solution.
Press control-escape, that is the same as the windows key on a modern 
keyboard.
Now with those two keys held down, press m, this will minimize all open 
windows and plop you on the desk top.
By the way, keyboards are very inexpensive, under $20.
