Hi.
Some time this week I'll be getting a couple of new radios. One of these is
the Kenwood TM-V71 dual band mobile radio. I was planning on using it for
cross band repeat, but I learned the TS-2000X will do this, so I've decided
to put the TM-V71 on Echo Link. With this in mind, I have two questions.
How blind friendly is it to interface Echo Link with the radio? I purchased
the cable to go from the PC to the radio. Do I need any other connections?
Also, what kind of connection is there between the computer and radio? Is
it a 9 pin serial cable or a USB plug. The reason I ask this is I'll need
to buy an extension cable to reach where I want to put the radio.
My second question is about the keyboard layout. I need a reference card
that describes where the keys are located. I went to icanworkthisthing.com,
but didn't see a cheat sheet there. If someone could give me this
information, I'd appreciate it.
I'm getting excited about the ham radio stuff I'm getting. I hope to be
able to work DX from here in the apartment, and let others have a go over
VOIP. I also ordered the speech modules for the radios I'm getting, so I
should get plenty of audible information.
Thanks again in advance for the help.
