Speaking of which, I think I mentioned I finally got an answer from Ken
More, not to be confused with Yamaha, and by a ham, no less, who knew what
he was talking about concerning repairing the display of the older TMV7A
dual bander. $75 an hour bench time, $162.50 for parts, plus shipping
coming and going. So I figure, for a $400 dual band radio, that's what I
paid for it new anyhow just before they stopped making it, $250 to get it
repaired is pretty expensive for a common program most V7A radios have. I
have a friend with the computer link cable and two working displays. He is
either bringing his display over to program up all my channels I want to use
or he will take the radio and plug it into his computer and program it that
way. I never thought of programming it via computer before but that's a way
around the 250 dollar repair bill since a blind guy doesn't need the display
in the first place. I mean, not for 250 dollars to be repaired for
something you won't be using.
Phil.
