Hi, List,
Excuse me for venting! I just downloaded "The Unfinished Tales of Numenor,"
by J.R.R. Tolkien from the BARD web site and I started to listen to it with
my BookSense. The narrator is Erin Jones! She's unsuitable for reading
this kind of book! The narrator should be a man, perhaps a British man, who
knows how to pronounce the names of the places and who gets into the spirit
of the book. This woman can't pronounce Minas Tireth right!
Unfortunately, the audiobook isn't available anywhere else. I checked
Audiobooks Online and Audible, but they don't have it.
Why are some of the narrators for NLS books so lousy? Do the producers
choose them? When I first used talking books as a kid with the old 33
records, the narrators were great!
