The thing that worked well for me when I was starting to shave was an
electric razor.  I preferred a Norelco (3 "floating" heads), but a
Remington "foil" razor might work too.  When I got old enough to grow
a full beard, I did, and that saved a lot of time.  A blade razor was
reminiscent of "bloodletting"!!  Depends on your son's arm/hand and
head control whether he'll be able to do it independently.
