Thanks to everyone who answered my question, especially to Pat, who pointed 
me toward the manual at www.icanworkthisthing.com.  I had downloaded the 
manual from Kenwood's site, and something must have gotten messed up when I 
converted it from a .PDF document to a Word document.  I now have the 
information I needed, and have decided to replace my version of the manual 
with the more accurate one I found.
