That's too vague for anyone to analyse.
You need to explain exactly what the messages say, under what circumstances
do they occur, and how often.
Is it only after the computer has been running for a while, or on booting,
or when opening certain programs?
What happens if you turn the warning off?
The usual problem is having too many background programs opening at
startup, eating up too much of your available memory. 1 Gb RAM is plenty
for XP under normal circumstances.
Open Task Manager and see if there's anything eating up unusual gobs of
memory. Disable as many startups as you can (ie everything not essential)
and see if that makes a difference. You can do this in Msconfig if you
don't have a startup utility. (Run/type msconfig)
Run a full scan for viruses/trojans, it could be a hoax message. AVG free
does not rank as well as it used to. Avira free is more wide-ranging as an
antivirus and antimalware protection and uses much less memory.
