I really hate to bring this topic up again, but since so many gluten
intolerant people have thyroid problems and I can't get a straight answer
from professionals, I want to know what the list knows.

I've been on Armour thyroid medication for years. Forrest Pharmaceuticals is
having difficulty obtaining the natural hormone necessary to supply certain
strengths of the medication. Consequently, I've been switched from Armour to
levothyroxine and cytomel. If I remember correctly, soy products are
contraindicated in hypothyroid patients.

Probably just because my thyroid medication has been changed, I'm focusing
on soy again. I try to stay away from it, but I was watching Dr. Oz
yesterday as he was addressing a heart issue with a man who showed critical
signs of heart problems - lots of plaque in his arteries. Dr. Oz has put him
on a 28-day vegan diet - and almost every meal this man will be eating
contains soy of some kind. I plan to write to Dr. Oz about the amount of soy
products he recommends, but want to know how soy interferes with thyroid
medication, specifically.

I will post a summary, but I'm so bogged down in things to do that it may
take a couple of weeks. Thanks ~~Ayn in Alabama
