How does one get whey without cheese? I thought whey was just a by-product from cheese making.

This sounds interesting. I've tried whey powders in the past, but they (and any other "processed" protein for that matter) make me "gassy". I usually just eat some jerkey or sausage after a workout, but often I'm not really "hungry" and just skip food entirely.
