My physician routinely 'prescribes' the Paleo Diet for patients. It's
especially powerful for a host of ailments generally treated as if they
were stand-alone problems. Viewed in terms of the whole system or matrix we
are, metabolic syndrome is a degenerative condition giving rise to myriad
metabolic breakdowns. Prostate health can be counted among them, in part due
to testosterone and estrogen imbalances. Remember, aromatization of
testosterone results in its conversion to estrogen, triggering both male
breast development and/or prostate problems.

Some hold that DHT is the culprit - 5-alpha diHydroxyTestosterone. Areas of
the body rich in hair follicles are also rich in 5-alpha reductase, the
enzyme producing DHT. That conversion can be thwarted by means of half doses
of OTC progesterone (found in the menopause section of natural food stores).

Paleo as diet is half the picture. The leading culprit in metabolic
syndrome, as demonstrated by Evans & Rosenberg at Tufts 20 years ago, is
wasting away of type II muscle fiber, so-called strength or power muscle.
Doing aerobics won't help that wasting, and may add to it. Strength muscle
is anaerobic - it doesn't use oxygen for fuel. Resistance exercise is the
key. Once males develop deep brown fat, a semi-endocrine problem kicks in.
The way to stop/reverse, or outright prevent, is doing resistance training
with bodyweight, weights, bands, tubes, cables - but not those damned
machines that limit motion and enhance loss of flexibility. You might call
the combination of Paleo diet and resistance training Paleo Fitness.

Most people don't want to do the fitness portion. We've been brainwashed
into thinking using food as medicine, as a substitute for pills and potions,
will do it for us. That's the lazy person's approach, signing their own
death warrant out of pathetic disinterest, not sedentary but sedated! Once
you start eating right and taking care of your embodiment, those problems
disappear - and instead of a swollen prostate, a horny guy comes to life.

Cruciferous vegetables, broccoli and cauliflower enjoyed together, also
helps.

Anyone seen any reduction in size of enlarged prostate on paleo or any
other suggestions?
Thanks, Sandy
