for high quality cat5 with shielding, you may pay a bit more depending on
the length.
You can indeed buy very very cheap ethernet cable wich isn't actually cat5
cable but a clone of it.
Figure out the distance you need, then go get a shielded hunk of cat5 along
with an RJ45 female to female adapter so you can connect the mike to the
cable. It'll come with male RJ45 jacks on each end already.

cat5 cable is just an 8 conducter cable known as category 5...network
standard stuff...exactly the same cable that you would run from a modem to a
router, or from the modem to the network card on your computer.
You are absolutely guaranteed to spend far far less going this route then
getting the cable from kenwood. Also you can get your own external speaker
cable if you need it from any electronics store for next to
nothing...probably 8 or 10 bucks for a 15 foot speaker extension cord with a
male mono 3.5mil jack on one end and a female 3.4mil plug on the other.
I know several guys who have also made the control head cable since kenwood
uses standard plugs and jacks for those...but this is a tricky business
since you have to crimp the connecters on and insure everything goes to the
right pins etcetra.
