Hi Christian, welcome back to the list, re that particular radio, I've not 
had my hands on it, but have successfully used both the VX-1R and VX-2r/I 
now have and use the 2r, which, IMHO is the _Much Better Of The Two, as well 
as having owned and used the VR-500 receiver, and now have and use the 
ft-817ND, all, of course, Yaesu Rigs.

although certainly all phases of those radios are not blind accessible,  But 
with either computer software or sighted help, they can be set up.  I 
Suppose that the VX-8 is much the same.
Possibly someone on this or the other list either has had, or now has, the
