Hi All, there was a discussion here a while back about not so good battery life on John Hansen's little box. This evening I was editing the qsyer manual and deleating any references except for Icom radios, when I came across this quote in the configuration portion.
"

If your ICOM radio has a menu item that says something like "CI-V 731 mode," make sure it is set to "off". Also be make sure that the CI-V transceive setting
is set to "off".
This will cause the battery in the keypad to last longer."
I once had a 706Original which I never had a proper cable to program. But I do remember in the ham radio deluxe instructs, we were told to turn that civ setting _On! Weren't we?
So, if you're using the radio alternately, with both the keypad and the computer, and forgetting to turn off the above outlined setting, when unplugging the computer and using the keypad, it would stand to reason that the battery drain would be increased. Just a thought, Check your situations out and let us know, please.
HTH, Danny Dyer, Wb4idu.
