I'm working on a fairly old computer with an Asus A7V8X motherboard and AMD
Athlon cpu.
I've had to reformat the HD and reinstall XP SP2.
Device Manager shows Ethernet and audio devices have drivers not installed,
and USB ports don't work. BIOS is Award (doesn't say which model).
The owner has lost the Asus mobo CD.
I've been to the Asus website
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?model=A7V8X&os=17&SLanguage=en-us
but I'm confused as to which of the many files I should download.
There are several Ethernet drivers available. I can't see any USB drivers
listed.
Can someone please advise me which of these files I should download. And
what do I then do with them? I downloaded the latest of the "BIOS" files
(Av8x4m14) onto my computer. After unzipping, it has an .awd extension. I'm
not sure if it's the right one. I expect that if I try to run it, I'll
simple get the "What do you want to open this with?" box.
After moving it to the other computer, should I install thru Device Manager
and point to that file? It doesn't look to me like a driver file.
I need drivers for: Ethernet. USB. Audio. There's no sound card, so I
assume it's onboard audio.
