Hello Mr Jallow,
I agree with you that to lay the problem at the foot of Islam or Muslims is oversimplifying it. Bear in
mind too that if what is reported in the news is true, that Major Hasan yelled "AllahuAkbar" while
shooting innocent victims, religion cannot be discounted in piecing this whole thing together.
There is such a thing call conscientious objector in the military and if Major Hasan hasnt invoked it,
he could have, and if a board finds it credible, they will let him out of the military. He went to medical
school on the military's dime and if he gets out under the conscientious objector discharge, the army
will probably recoup the money spent on his schooling.
Lastly, though you stressed that there is no excuse for Major Hasan's actions, you continued to delve
into why people are disgruntled with America and its foreign policy. In a way, you are saying you dont
agree with what happened but you understand why it happened. That is conjecture on your part and
it borders on what you struggled to escape from from the onset: Justifying Major Hasan's heinous
actions.
What Major Hasan did is horrible and there is no justification for it.
Saidy
