The only response I got from the list, so far, about Reclast was to make sure my doctor got a pre-cert from my insurance company. Not all insurance companies cover the $$$ cost.

As it turns out, the doctor understood my concern about side effects and recommends I start out with a year (4 infusions) of Boniva, an infusion every three months. Side effects less likely. She finds if people do well on the Boniva for a year, then they tolerate Reclast without side effects. Same drug. Different strength.

The doctor automatically said she'd get a pre-cert for the Boniva. I didn't have to ask.

With family issues and travel plans coming up, I decided to go ahead with the Boniva, but starting in January.

Doc also noticed on the DexaScan report that a new machine was used, so I might not have actually had much of a change in scores. These are just more accurate. I have been tracking my scores since my first DexaScan in 1997.

So a warning to my listmates...when a radiology place changes machines, your scores may reflect it. When the radiology place I used changed mammogram machines, they wrote us letters, but they did not tell me this time that the Dexa Scan was new.
