Thanks for your note Stan. I think you and I communicated on this matter
when I was trying to make it work a couple of weeks ago. I appreciated your
words of wisdom then, and today's note as well. For me it is a matter of I
have to get to work, so if they can't get JAWS to work with Windows 7 64 bit
then I have to move on. The boss won't hear of me sitting around waiting
for FS to figure it out, and at the level of concern they showed when I was
dealing with them I could be waiting a long time.

At any rate, if the ADA in the US ever gets to where it needs to be these
high-priced fellows will be driven out of the market with a screen reader
from Microsoft as good or better than what the Mac has. After all, why is
the Windows Operating system not accessible out of the box?

Thx, Albert

Albert et al:

I wrote to the list back in August or September about the problems I
encountered with JAWS 10 and Vista Home Premium 64 bit. The problem was
that JAWS would not properly and completely install. I had some extended
discussions with Freedom Scientific and the only thing that made any sense
was that the video driver was out of date or had a compatibility problem.
I updated various ways and times with no success.

The processor was a 64 bit Intel quad core on a Gateway desktop.

I am waiting for an upgrade to Windows 7 to try my hand at it again. Since
this is my wife's computer, it is not essential that JAWS work on it; JAWS
is used by me only to help when my wife needs some technical help. However,
the experience has raised serious questions as to the stability,
compatibility etc. of the various products involved.

Stan
