I did pay for a one year membership, but I just haven't been using the
service. A lot of guys on cq100 are in positions where they just can't put
up antennas and the program makes you think that your actually operating a
transceiver. The one problem is that unlike echo link, you can't search for
a call or location. The only control that you have is the virtual frequency
tuning knob which are your arrow keys. So the only way to catch a friend is
to meat them on a calling virtual freq or set up a schedule.

    Kevin:

I didn't realize it was being run by Canadian folks.

Not that this means anything in particular; it's just something I didn't
know.

So, no negative reflection on our Canadian friends. ...

It's just interesting information to store away somewhere in case someone
asks me about it someday.

I knew John would make a comment a soon as I saw this thread. Anyhow it's
just another VOIP thing like echolink. Only they charge for it. Also once
again it's another thing put out by Canadians. Sort of how IRLP started.

Well, John, I am sure you're not alone in your opinion. ... And, I too
have reservations about it, which is probably the best reason I can think of
as to why I never heard of or tried it.

I just wanted to be sure I somehow wasn't missing something.

it's a fraudulent site, they claim you're on the air when in fact your not
and it costs money if you can imagine that. Personally I think it's worse
than echolink and anyone using it should lose their licenses permanently but
that's probably not going to happen.
