I contacted Western Family on Monday and found out that they did change packager/suppliers to a company that does snack pretzels at Christmas.  The rep assured me that the nuts I buy should be totally safe until about December, but she also told me that because of the prevalence of the outcry about the 'wheat' warning, this company is totally rethinking doing ANY prezels again!  yay!  Getting in touch with a company really makes a huge difference.

Thanks to the many great suggestions from those of you who replied---washing and drying nuts and finding an online supplier.
