Thank you Skipper.

You are right about the lavoxyl. During my wide awake hours three nights
ago, I had lots of time to ponder why I felt so terrible. I decided that
the lavoxl did not make me feel right at all. Some time ago I ordered Bio-
throid (similar to Armour) from the UK without prescription due to my
frustration with believing I had a thyroid problem that no doctor would
help me with. I dabbled with small amounts but abandoned it because I would
get an adrenal stress increase and thought that it was the thyroid
medication being too high. I have kept it refrigerated. So, I decided to
try the lowest dose (less than 1/4 grain) spread out over the day instead
of the lavoxyl. I know this is wrong and agree that no-one else should do
the stupid things I do, ok. I am a doctor's worst nightmare.
But, the next
night I slept for almost 9 hours - this is the longest I have slept in
months and months. I felt good yeaterday and hopeful. Then, the adrenals
kicked in with lots of cortisol and last night was bad, back to only about
2 hours sleep. But, I feel better on the bio-throid. I just didn't feel
right at all on the lavoxyl. I felt rotten to be exact.

I fired my doctor yesterday after having repeatedly trying (over a week) to
get her to call and talk to me for just a few minutes about how bad I was
feeling and the no sleep and maybe get something better for my sleep, at
least. I don't understand a doctor that won't call back at all. What if I
was having a cardiac problem or something really serious? I expressed my
reasons for my intense dissatisfaction with my care to the staff and asked
that they relay it to the doctor. I even tried to move my appointment up
from mid December. They gave me a song
and dance about how busy she was
giving lectures all over the country - basically saying I wasn't important
enough to disrupt her day.

I have an appointment with Dr. Don Michael in two weeks.

I think I am one with the high night cortisol mostly and a problem with
hypoglycemia almost all night. Mornings, I am slow and tired and miserable.
I'm confused about how to help moderate it. People talk about licorice
(raises cortisol), acetyl-L-Carnitine (lowers cortisol), Asperine (lowers
cortisol), Cordyceps (raises cortisol), Gensing (adaptogen), stevia (lowers
blood sugar by raising adrenilin) etc., etc. But, how could one use them to
moderate things? Which are bad if you have high cortisol at night? What are
the down sides of some of these? Does anyone have some helpful suggestions?
Which are slow acting and which are fast acting?

I know about minerals and thyroid meds
and take them around dinner time and
cromium around lunch because I am low in this and don't want the others to
interfere with it's uptake.

Tish
