I like this group a lot. Even if I really really struggle to eat Paleo, you guys
inspire me and keep me from giving up. You are all well spoken and put a lot of
effort and intelligence into your posts. I'm awed at how much reading some of
you do in this topic. I hate to see this group divided. Since I don't have much
to share as far as Paleo, I thought I'd share this. It's kept me out of trouble
for a long time now.
I've spent years on newsgroups, some of them in topics where each member is
a Molotov Cocktail just waiting to be ignited and thrown at any convenient
target.
Marianne's Rules of Newsgroup Survival
1. If you are offended by a poster's opinion, remember that you *choose* to
be offended.
2. Never respond to flames, even to defend yourself.
3. If the topic begins to upset you, delete the threads. You are less tempted
to send off a stupid, angry response. And do you really need to read that
shite, anyway? Does it enrich your life and brighten your day?
4. Don't send that angry reply. JUST DON'T. Write it to get it out of your
system, but DON'T PRESS SEND.
5. Some people do need to be spanked, but that's the moderator's job. If
there is no moderator or the moderator is asleep, send a private email.
Marianne (btw--the most volatile group was Harry Potter fans!)
