>>the houses were built
during the cold weather of the winter "imitation" mortar being
used...[the builder] drove rapidly from the scene to his house on East
Seventy-seventh street, and disappeared; <<
The times, they are NOT a'changin'. Sounds a lot like they build some
houses now with imitation windows made of plastic and imitation siding
made of cardboard, imitation framing and sheathing made of wood chips,
sawdust and monkey juice, etc. It's easy enough to sell these cartoon
structures to a generation that grew up watching cartoons on TV, but the
big trick is to get the houses to stand long enough to resell the
mortgage and then run away to the Cayman Islands.
>>an excited crowd had
gathered whose threats of vengeance on the reckless builder filled the
air.<<
Well, maybe the the times are a'changin'. Now the builders and
developers are rewarded with million-dollar bonuses, bailouts and tax
breaks.
