Rick,
You don't use rit for this. Use the VFO knob which is the 4 position knob
just to the right of the display window. First position( all the way to the
left) listens on vfo A and transmits on vfo B. Second position is rx and
tx both on vfo A , third position is rx and tx on vfo b, and the fourth
position is rx on vfo B and tx on vfo A ( just the opposite of the first
position.
So the DX is transmitting on 14015 and this will be your rx freq. He is
listening up 5, so you want to tx on 14 020. Set knob to second position
(vfo A) and tune to 14.015 for your rx freq. Now turn the knob to the third
position (vfo B) and tune to 14.020 for your tx freq. Now set the knob to
the first position and the rig will rx on 14.015 and tx on 14.020.
When finished working split, remember to return the knob to either position
2 or 3 to get back into single vfo operation. Sounds more complicated
than it really is. It's a nice rig, had one here since 1987, but don't use
it much anymore.
